A Journey of Compassion: Helping a Woman in Labor on the Roadside

Imagine being in labor, alone with your young child, and stranded on the roadside waiting for a taxi. 🥺

That's the dire situation we encountered today. Our driver initially drove past her, but thankfully, he quickly realized something was wrong and reversed back. It turned out she was in labor, having just experienced her water breaking… and was helpless with her about 4-year-old boy.

She was incoherent and couldn't answer any questions, but it was clear she needed immediate medical attention.

Our driver did well—he parked and pleaded with us to take her to the hospital since no other cars were available. We passengers unanimously agreed, and no one uttered a word. Time was of the essence, and we knew it was a matter of life and death.

The 15-20 minute drive to the hospital felt like an eternity. No one alighted, maybe out of empathy, but our driver got us there safely. Upon arrival, the nurses took charge, and thankfully, they had the lady’s information on her antenatal care file. They assured us they'd contact her family.

What struck me most was the compassion and care shown by the women on board. They all rallied around the lady—whilst some were rubbing her back, others were praying and urging her to stay strong. I, on the other hand, was praying silently. 🙏

It was a beautiful display of solidarity and kindness.

Thank you to those wonderful women.
